International Association of Fire Fighters Endorses Dr. Richard Pan for Congress in CA-06

Sacramento, CA — The International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF), representing more than 300,000 professional firefighters and emergency medical personnel across the United States and Canada, endorsed Dr. Richard Pan for Congress in California’s 6th Congressional District — backing a candidate with a proven record of protecting public safety, supporting workers, and delivering for local communities.

Firefighters cited Dr. Pan’s leadership in the Legislature, his commitment to community safety, and his track record of standing with first responders to ensure they have the protections and support they need on the job.

“Dr. Richard Pan has spent his career standing up for the health and safety of our communities,” said Trevor Jamison, President of the Sacramento Area Firefighters “When local governments faced budget deficits, Dr. Pan secured federal funding to keep neighborhood fire stations open. We know he will continue to fight for the resources and protections our communities deserve in Congress.”

Dr. Pan has worked closely with first responders throughout his career as both a physician and legislator. As a freshman legislator, he secured federal funding for ambulance transport that kept neighborhood fire stations open in the great recession. He supported protections for firefighters and advocated for collective bargaining rights, recognizing that when first responders have a voice on the job, communities are safer.

Dr. Richard Pan is a pediatrician, educator, small business owner and Former State Senator dedicated to keeping California’s families healthy and safe. In the State Senate, he championed landmark child and school safety laws and lowered the uninsured rate among children by two-thirds – taking on RFK Jr. twice after preventable disease outbreaks. A Harvard-trained pediatrician and UC Davis professor, he has cared for underserved children, trained future doctors and co-founded Healthy Kids Healthy Future, providing health coverage to more than 65,000 kids.
