California Teachers Association and the National Education Association Endorse Dr. Richard Pan for Congress in CA-06

Sacramento, CA — The National Education Association (NEA) and the California Teachers Association (CTA), representing millions of educators across the country and hundreds of thousands in California, have endorsed Dr. Richard Pan in his campaign for Congress in California’s 6th Congressional District.

Dr. Pan is an educator who teaches public health policy at UC Davis.

Teachers cited Dr. Pan’s record of supporting strong public schools, protecting children’s health and safety, and working with teachers to ensure students have the resources they need to succeed.

“Dr. Pan has been a steadfast partner to educators in the Legislature, working to protect student health and ensure our schools have the support they need,” said CTA President David Goldberg “California’s educators know he will bring that same commitment to Washington.”

“I’m honored to earn the support of educators who dedicate their lives to helping our children succeed,” said Dr. Richard Pan. “As a pediatrician and a parent, I know that strong public schools are essential to healthy communities. In Congress, I will work with teachers and parents to make sure every child has the opportunity to learn and thrive.”

As a pediatrician, Dr. Pan served as a medical consultant to a school district working closely with school nurses and psychologists and focused on caring for children requiring special education in his practice. As a legislator, he served on the California Senate Committee on Education and has worked closely with teachers to improve student health and safety in schools and expand access to services to support children and families.

“In Congress, I will work with educators and parents to ensure our public schools have the resources they need and that every child has the opportunity to succeed,” Pan said.

Dr. Pan is running for Congress to lower costs for families, protect access to health care, strengthen public schools, and stand up for California communities.

NEA and CTA join a growing coalition of labor and community leaders supporting Dr. Pan, including the California Labor Federation, AFSCME, SEIU, CSEA, and Equality California.
