Equality California Endorses Dr. Richard Pan for Congress in CA-06
Sacramento, CA — Equality California, the nation’s largest statewide LGBTQ+ civil rights organization, endorsed Dr. Richard Pan in his campaign for Congress in California’s 6th Congressional District.
Equality California announced its endorsement of Dr. Pan, highlighting the importance of electing leaders with proven records of standing with the LGBTQ+ community.
“Now more than ever, we need to elect pro-equality leaders with proven track records who have shown clear and consistent support for LGBTQ+ people and who understand what is at stake,” said Equality California Executive Director Tony Hoang. “In the legislature, Dr. Pan fought to improve access to healthcare for LGBTQ+ Californians. Throughout his career, he has stood with our community, and we are proud to stand with him.”
As a pediatrician and former State Senator, Dr. Pan worked to expand access to affordable, quality health care for all Californians, including LGBTQ+ families. He helped reduce the uninsured rate by almost two-thirds and has consistently supported policies that protect patients from discrimination and expand access to preventive and mental health services.
“I am honored to earn the endorsement of Equality California,” said Dr. Richard Pan. “Every Californian deserves to live with dignity, safety, and equal protection under the law. In Congress, I will continue fighting to protect LGBTQ+ families from discrimination, defend access to all evidence-based health care, and stand up against extremist attacks on American fundamental rights and freedoms.”
Dr. Pan has also received endorsements from SEIU California, representing more than 750,000 workers across the state, and the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME), the nation’s largest union of public service workers. He is endorsed by Congressmembers Judy Chu, Dave Min, Kevin Mullin, and Luz Rivas, along with a growing coalition of local elected officials, labor leaders, and community organizations across the Sacramento region.

Dr. Richard Pan is a pediatrician, educator, small business owner and Former State Senator dedicated to keeping California’s families healthy and safe. In the State Senate, he championed landmark child and school safety laws and lowered the uninsured rate among children by two-thirds – taking on RFK Jr. twice after preventable disease outbreaks.
